Dr. Shamshad obtained the degrees of B.A., M.A., B.Ed. and Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He qualified Joint CSIR-UGC (JRF) in Earth Sciences and UGC (NET) in Geography. He is currently employed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, Since August 01, 2018. Dr. Shamshad worked as a Research Fellow under the UGC-SAP-DRS-III Programme and also accomplished the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF). His major fields of research interest are Population, Rural and Urban Geographies. He has a great commitment with teaching and research, and hence, to his credit, there are four books and eighty nine (89) research papers published in various edited books, proceedings and reputed national & international journals. He has also presented sixty six (66) research papers in various national and international conferences, participated in sixteen (16) webinars, organizing member of (05) national and international conferences, done six Refresher, Orientation, Capacity Building and Faculty Development Programmes, accomplished twelve (12) Short Term and Training Programmes, delivered lecturers, chaired three technical sessions, supervised M.A./M.Sc. three educational tours, participated in eight workshops, performed various University administrative and academic duties, accomplished six extracurricular activities and taken several pledges. He also received Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan National  Taeacher Award – 2024 and two Young Geographer Awards for the best paper presentation in seminars. Dr. Shamshad is the life member of various academic bodies like NAGI (New Delhi), GAG (Goa), IRDS (Kanpur), INCA (Hyderabad), RGA, (Bhilwara), APA, (Patiala), KGAI (Sindhudurg), Geographical Society of the North-Eastern Hill Region and The Association of Geographers: Bihar & Jharkhand (AGBJ).
