ARIF NAZIR, Professor at AMU, Aligarh, has taught Hindi for about 30 years. He was awarded two D.Lit degrees by Magadh University, Bodh, Gaya in 1991 and MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly in 2002. He was also awarded UGC Research Award in Hindi for the IX Plan period. He has completed 3 Minor Research Projects and a Major Research Project awarded by AMU/ UGC. He is the author of 8 books and cotranslator of a book from Urdu to Hindi. His 76 Research Papers and about 17 articles are published in various prestigious journals and books. He has been the editor of the Annual Research Journal of the Faculty of Arts, AMU, Aligarh in 2007-2009, Joint issue in Hindi and 2009-10(Hindi) He has participated and presented papers in about 66 National and 9 International Conferences/ Symposia etc. in India. He attended, participated and presented papers in International Conferences/ Congress etc in Canada (1994) The Netherlands (Holland) (1997) and Canada (2000) He had been a Resource for Hindi at Doha, Qatar in connection with the Teachers' in Service Orientation Programme for the period from 13th December 1999 to 16th December 1999. He has been honored with a number of prestigious awards and honors. Some of them are Natali Puraskar (2005-6) Pravasi Bhartiya Mahakavi Hari Shankar Adesh Sahitaya Sindhu Samman (2011) Nagri Lipi Parishad Puraskar in annual All India Essay Competition, Research Group for six times i.e. in 1987, 88, 92, 94, 99 and 2000, Abdul Rahim Khankhana Samman (2000), Hindi Ratana Samman (2001) Uttar Pradesh Ratna Samman (2002) Varishtha Rashtriya Pratibha Samman(2010) etc 11 Research Scholars have completed their research and obtained Ph.D degree under his supervision. Beside Professor in Hindi, at present, he is also Coordinator of the course of Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Arts, AMU, Aligarh
