Awarded MA , M.Phil degrees from AMU, Aligarh and Ph.D from Assam University, Silchar. Qualified UGC- JRF in 1989-90. Joined as Lecturer in history Assam University, Silchar as one of the founding faculties . Contributed in the development of curriculum, acquisition of books in the Library and all other academic and administrative works.
Joined as Reader in history , AMU, Aligarh on 16.10.2003(A/N) and as Professor since 13.04.2015. The major areas of research are history of North East India, Customary Law and Eighteenth century India.
