  3. Second edition of Urban Centres of Pondicherry

Second edition of Urban Centres of Pondicherry, authored by Prof. S. Chandnibi, Department of History, AMU was released in Pondicherry recently by the Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy. The book has been published by Pondicherry Institute of Linguistics and Culture (PILC), a Puducherry Government’s institution.

It deals with lesser known townships of Puducherry like Bahur, Tribhuvani, Villiyanur  and the nearby town, Arikamedu, a well known archaeological site, on the basis of archeological sources viz excavation, exploration and epigraphy.

The path breaking findings of settlement pattern, showing the plan, streets and locations of brahmadeya towns with the inscriptional resources are brought out for the first time and adds substantially to the existing knowledge about these places.
