Dr. Fazal Mahmood is an Associate Professor (Geography) in Centre of West Asian Studies. He did his B.sc (Hons.) and M.sc in Geography from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He obtained M.Phil and Ph.D in West Asian studies(Geography) on the topic concerning 'Geopolitical significance of the Suez Canal'from Centre of West Asian Studies , A.M.U, Aligarh. He began his career as Research Associate in 1984 and became Assistant Professor in 1989 in Centre of West Asian studies.Currently he is an Associate Professor (Geography) at the Centre of West Asian Studies.He has published more than twenty articles on different geopolitical aspects of West Asia in reputed national and international journals. His field of specializations is Social, political, economic and tourism geography with special reference to West Asia and conducting and guiding research on important issues of his specialization to M.Phil and PhD students.He continues regularly to attend national and international conferences and seminars on the field of his interests and is teaching physical, social and political geography of West Asia to graduate and post-graduate students.
