Professor Jawaid Iqbal, Current Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri (J&K), India (since October 2024) is a highly accomplished expert in the field of International Relations, based at Aligarh Muslim University in India. He has held prominent academic and administrative roles, including Former Acting Vice-Chancellor, AMU, Aligarh, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, and Chairmanship of several departments, such as the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Department of South African and Brazilian Studies, and the Department of Foreign Languages at AMU, Aligarh. His involvement in shaping university policies is notable, as he has been a member of influential decision-making bodies like the AMU Court, Executive Council, and Academic Council. Furthermore, he has served on various Boards of Studies, Committees, and Advisory Boards within the institution. Dr. Iqbal's contributions extend beyond administration, as he has played diverse roles in research, development, promotion, curriculum design, and other administrative capacities at AMU.
With a strong academic background, holding a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Dr. Iqbal boasts over 31 years of teaching experience. He has successfully supervised over 20 post-doctoral and doctoral students, specializing in International Relations, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Studies.
Additionally, Dr. Iqbal has made significant editorial contributions, serving as an editor for prestigious research journals such as the Journal of West Asian Studies, the Indian Journal of International Relations, and the West Asia Bulletin. His scholarly endeavours also include authoring multiple books and contributing over 50 publications to prestigious international and national journals. He has actively participated in academic conferences, presenting more than 40 papers at both national and international seminars, showcasing his dedication to scholarly engagement. He has travelled to France, Israel, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Austria, and Hungary for the purpose of conducting research. Dr. Iqbal's contributions have had a lasting impact on both Aligarh Muslim University and the field of International Relations.
