Library Book Bank  

The Book Bank of Faculty Library, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, is established in the year 1984 with the objective of helping the students of MBBS / BDS who could not afford to purchase the text books.  As no grant was available for the purpose, an amount of Rs. 50000 was diverted from non-recurring grant from Sixth Five Year Plan was used in establishing the book bank. Later on an another amount of 100,000 was made available for the purpose.

It caters to the need of under graduate students of Ist , IInd, IIIrd & Final year of MBBS & BDS, students get textbooks as recommended by the all departments under Faculty of Medicine on nominal charges of 20% of the book cost for the entire session. A student can become the member of the Book Bank by depositing Rs.50/- as the membership fee for whole course of MBBS/ BDS.   The total number of books in the Book Bank is about 6346. The Rules of the Book Bank are decided by the Committee which consists of Principal, University Librarian, Hony. Library officer in the meeting as the Principal being the Chairperson. The Book Bank caters to the need of about 760 U.G. students by facilitating them about 6346 books annually.

RULES OF BOOK BANK, FACULTY LIBRARY, JNMC

    1. Book bank is entirely for the benefit of the students of Faculty of Medicine, A.M.U. 

    2. A student can become the member of the book bank by paying of RS. 50/- as membership fee once for whole course of M.B.B.S / BDS

    3. Books will be issued on submission of cashier’s receipt of 20% of the value of the total cost of book(s) which is /are to be hired. 

    4. Books will be issued strictly to the bonafied students of the faculty of medicine only for the academic year on showing the valid current Identity Card. 

    5. All books shall be returned within a week of the examination is over.

    6. In case books are not returned in time a fine of Rs. 1/-per day per volume shall be charged till book is returned.

    7. The fine/cost of books shall be deposited in cash to the Section Officer (accounts), Principal' Office, JN Medical College. 

    8. If books have been marked, defaced, spoiled or damaged, the Principal or his nominee shall at his discretion either impose a fine or charge the cost of books. In the later case the book shall be returned to the member. 

    9. The responsibility of proper custody of the book is of the member only.
