To develop an elementary understanding about the libraries, their services and importance to the society.
To develop a basic understanding about the foundations of Library and information Science and history of libraries.
To develop an understanding of the organization of knowledge in different types of libraries.
To equip the students with the theoretical and practical aspects of Cataloguing and Classification.
To equip the students with an understanding of the concepts and principles of library management and routine technical operations.
To understand the students about the concept and wide applications of Information Communication Technology in libraries
To help understanding the concept of library automation, library management software packages and their modules for executing different tasks in libraries.
To understand the concepts of information sources and services.
To understand the criteria for evaluation of major reference sources available in libraries.
