NATIONAL GANDHI JAYANTI SEMINAR 2018

: "We must try to efface the causes of conflict rather than striving for resolving the conflicts. At the outset, the causes are to be spotted and a sustained effort is to be made to remove all that produces the conflict. Aiming at conflict resolution alone is nothing more than a fire-fighting operation. It cannot spell enduring peace", said Mr Tushar Gandhi, eminent author and the great grandson of Mahatama Gandhi, while delivering the keynote address in a two-day national seminar on "Gandhian Perspective on Alternative Dispute Resolution" organized by the Department of Philosophy, in collaboration with the Indialogue Foundation and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi at the Aligarh Muslim University today.

University Extension Lecture-2019

Chinese Philosophy and Indo-Chinese relations expert, Prof Jia Haitao (Director, Institute for Chindian Studies, Jinan University, China) today delivered a lecture on 'Ownership issues in Marxism: Theory and its practices' in which he discussed ownership as an organizational principle that sets norms and fundamentals of a society. His lecture was a part of a two-lecture series organized by the Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

University Extension Lecture-2019

: Prof Mary Evans, Professor Emeritus, London School of Economics, UK, said that 'right to autonomy and freedom' is the most important right to be given to women for their empowerment and self assertion. She said that a citizen as a person was gender-neutral and it did not entail a fractured idea of being masculine. She stressed that as citizen women enjoy same rights including that of education, adult suffrage and medical attendance as her masculine counterpart.

The Department of Philosophy observed Swachhta Pakhwada on 25th of January, 2020. An internal team of the Department is formed by Chairperson to lead all the activities under the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ mission. The Department with its all faculty members and students (M.A & Research Scholars) took ‘Swachhta Pledge’ at morning 11 a.m. on 25th Jan, 2020 in front of the Faculty of Arts, to keep the department clean and green
