Prof. Shamsuzzaman completed his Ph.D. From AMU in 1983. He has been a recipient of JRF, SRF & PDF of CSIR, New Delhi. He is an awardee of Liverhulme Commonwealth/USA Visiting Fellowship to work at Queens University, Belfast, U.K. and Monbusho Fellowship (Govt. of Japan) to work at Ehime University, Matsuyama. Before Joining AMU as Reader in 1998 he was working as Senior Lecture in the Department of Chemistry, JMI, New Delhi. His main research interests include synthetic organic chemistry with special reference to steroids, their synthesis, derivatization and biological evaluation for antimicrobial and anticancer activity. His teaching interests include general organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, applications of organic spectroscopy etc. He has published about hundred research papers in reputed national & international journals which include J.
