Prof. Anjum Parvez is currently serving as the Chairperson, Department of Medicine, J.N. Medical College since December 2021. He has also been working there as a Professor since July 2012 and as the In-Charge of Gastroenterology Unit since April 2017.

Prof. Anjum was on a three-year extraordinary leave (E.O.L) from December 2018 to December 2021. During that period, he served as a Professor (Full) at the Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, National University of Science and Technology, Suhar, Sultanate of Oman. During his 3 years tenure in Oman, he also served as member of University Council (highest executive body), Chair of Quality Assurance and Enhancement Committee, and Deputy Chair of Admission Committee.

Prof. Anjum received his M.B., B.S. and M.D. (Medicine) from King George's Medical University (erstwhile K.G.M.C), Lucknow, in 1993 and 1998 respectively. He joined the Dept. of Medicine, JNMC, AMU in March 1999 as a Lecturer. He got promoted as an Associate Professor in March 2008 and finally as a Professor in July 2012.

Prof. Anjum has more than 70 research publications to his credit in various national and international journals of repute including the Journal of Cytology, Biomedical Research, Journal of South Asian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Journal of Pure and Applied Microbiology and Indian Journal of Clinical Practice.

Prof. Anjum has 28 years of experience with undergraduate and post graduate teaching, patient care and research. He has supervised/co-supervised 31 postgraduate theses so far. He has also obtained special training in Diagnostic Upper GI and Lower GI Endoscopy at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar (J&K) and National AIDS Control Organization (N.A.C.O) - A.R.T. Specialist Training held at National AIDS Control Organization (N.A.C.O) Regional Training Institute, C.S.M.M.U. (presently K.G.M.U), Lucknow.

Prof. Anjum's interest areas are Gastroenterology, Cardio-Diabetology and Infectious diseases (HIV, Dengue, Malaria). He is currently conducting Gastroenterology O.P.D on a weekly basis in addition to Medicine O.P.D on separate days. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper & lower GI endoscopy on a weekly basis.

Notably, Prof. Anjum has served as the Director of Medical Attendance Scheme (MAS), AMU from Sept 2014 to Nov 2017 (3 years) and as the Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS), JNMCH hospital, AMU from Sept 2008 to March 2013 (4 and a half years). He has also served as Member In-Charge & Associate Member In-Charge, University Guest Houses from Sept' 2012 to Sept' 2014 (2 years) and an Member (elected), Academic Council, AMU, from 2013 to 2015 (2 years).

       Prof. Anjum is a life member of the Association of Physicians of India (API) and a member of the Governing Body, Association of Physicians of India (UP chapter). He is also currently serving as a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Practical Medicine and Medical Sciences, Annals of Infectious Diseases and Preventive Medicine, and International Journal of General and Internal Medicine - International open access peer reviewed journals.
