To develop an understanding of the concepts, theories, and methodologies used in qualitative and quantitative analyses of linguistic structure and patterns of language use.

Understand how languages are structured, including the organization of phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic systems.
Have knowledge of biological basis of language and various language disorders that have an implication in education.
Collect, organize and analyze linguistic data from diverse languages and form hypotheses about language structure.
Apply linguistic tools and data in other disciplines like language teaching, computations, speech therapy, forensic sciences and others.
Develop an awareness regarding language variation and change, linguistic diversities, multilingualism and their role in constructing social identity.
