Department of Linguistics

A master’s degree in linguistics can provide the foundation for a wide range of jobs such as- linguist, forensic linguist, computational linguist, lexicographer, accent coach, translator or interpreter and many more.

The students will be able to:

1. Understand how languages are structured, including the organization of phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic systems.

2. Have knowledge of biological basis of language and various language disorders that have an implication in education. 

3. Collect, organize and analyze linguistic data from diverse languages and form hypotheses about language structure.

4. Apply linguistic tools and data in other disciplines like language teaching, computations, speech therapy, forensic sciences and others.

5. Develop an awareness regarding language variation and change, linguistic diversities, multilingualism and their role in constructing social identity.
