Lecture by Chairperson Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

A lecture was delivered on “Struggle faced by the freedom fighters” by Prof. Mohammad Afzaal, Chairman, Department of Zoology and Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, on 13th of August, 2022 at 3:15 PM in lecture theatre of Zoology Department Z2. The lecture was attended by the students, research scholars and the faculty members. Prof. Afzaal highlighted the contribution of well known and some other revolutionaries and leaders of the movement in different periods and different parts of the country in British period. He also enumerated the famous news papers and magazines edited by the freedom fighters in English and vernacular languages. He also presented the economic and social backgrounds of British rule and the exploitation of resources of the country. The independence brought an end to this state, although the challenges of nation building still continues. He asked the youth to inculcate the values and ideals of freedom movements and spirit of service and sacrifice for national cause. The meeting started with recitation of holy Quran and ended on vote of thanks by the student compere.

STUDENT NEWS

Twelve students of the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have qualified the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC and CSIR.

Mukeem Ahmad, Muzammil Syed Shah, Akbar Husain, Javeria Fatima, Kajal Gaur and Nargis cleared JRF; while Arsalan Sayeb Butt, Moizzah Fatima, Mohammad Faizan, Yasha Taimuri, Himanshi Varshney and Ramsha Ashraf qualified NET.

Sheer hard work and guidance from faculty members led the students to succeed, said Prof Mohammad Afzal, Chairman, Department of Zoology.
