I teach Animal Ecology, Limnology and Oceanography, Ichthyology and Fish Diseases, Aquaculture, Environmental Toxicology, etc. at postgraduate level. My research area is Limnology, where we study inland aquatic ecosystems and describe water quality, plankton composition, abundance, and productivity. Our team analyzed different pollutants and their impact on biota including fish in Inland waters which included regional ponds, Wular Lake, river Ganga, river Yamuna, etc. I mentored under one international training program executed by the Centre for International Co-operation in Science. (CICS) .

Six Ph.Ds., three M.Phils. and thirty-six postgraduate project dissertations have been successfully awarded so far under my supervision. Our research findings have been published in reputed journals, viz., Scientific Reports, Toxicology Reports, Heliyon, Plos One, Pollution Research, Advances in Environmental Technology, Environmental Biology, International Journal of Biodiversity and Conservation, Indian Journal of Applied Science including several peer-reviewed journals and in edited books.  I have received the Sultana N. Nahar Distinguished Teacher Award of Excellence for outstanding research publications. I also received a Certificate of Recognition for my achievements and contribution as a successful professional in celebration of International Women’s Day at Aligarh Muslim University and the International Society of Muslim Women in Science (ISMWS).
