Dr. Maulana M. Ansari, a student (Para U) of the renowned surgeon Prof. Tara Chandra at G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, joined Aligarh Muslim University in 1986 and served the University in various capacities. Dr. Ansari is presently working as the Professor of General Surgery. He is an excellent surgeon with an ability to perform each & every operation as a live demonstration coupled with a running commentary to teach the students and peers alike. He has a teaching experience of 33 years in the premier teaching institutions, and he is a keen learner. He submitted his doctoral research on live surgical anatomy during laparoscopic inguinal hernioplasty (total extra-peritoneal) in the form of PhD Thesis in May 2016 (Thesis Topic: ?A Study of Laparoscopic Surgical Anatomy of Infraumbilical Posterior Rectus Sheath, Fascia Transversalis & Pre-Peritoneal Fat/Fascia during TEPP Mesh Hernioplasty for Inguinal Hernia?). Dr. Ansari received fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery in 1998 at MAMC, New Delhi. Thereafter, he established several Laparoscopic Operations at JNMC Hospital, AMU, Aligarh, including the Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in 1998, the Laparoscopic Incisional Hernioplasty and Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty in 2008, the Laparoscopic Inguinal hernioplasty (Total Extra-Peritoneal) in 2012, and the Subfascial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery (SEPS) in 2014. His current thrust areas include Laparoscopic Inguinal Anatomy and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery with special emphasis on video-recording for teaching purpose. Dr. Ansari has published 127 research papers and 1 book (Management of Trauma). He organized 2 conferences as Treasurer and actively participated in 53 conferences. He has 69 working papers to his credit as well. He coined 09 new medical terms, described 31 rare lesions/conditions and successfully used 10 atypical treatments.
